Founded in 2005 and based in Aix-en-Provence (France), SuperSonic Imagine® is the world leader in diagnostic medical ultrasound technology. At the heart of SuperSonic Imagine®’s innovations lies UltraFast® Imaging technology, which elevates imaging capabilities to unprecedented levels, boasting a significant increase in frame rates compared to conventional systems.
In its early days, SuperSonic Imagine® designed, developed, and brought to market, its first-generation ultrasound system, Aixplorer®, with the capability to acquire images 200 times faster than conventional ultrasound systems, utilizing the patented UltraFast® technology.
This breakthrough enables practitioners to obtain real-time quantitative maps of tissue viscoelastic properties and achieve reproducible quantification of key clinical parameters such as fibrosis or fat content. UltraFast® is the only ultrasound technology that can image using a combination of: conventional (ultrasound waves to image in B-Mode), ShearWave® (with propagation speed linked to the elastic properties of the tissue) and PLanewave UltraSensitive® (a technique that transmits and receives ultrasonic signals at different angles simultaneously, for faster imaging).
SuperSonic Imagine® is the pioneer behind the first Real-Time ShearWave® Elastography (SWE™). The combination of UltraFast® and Real-Time ShearWave® ensures excellent image quality with no lag. This allows physicians to visualize and analyze the stiffness of tissue in a reliable, reproducible, non-invasive manner, without delay. Real-Time ShearWave® significantly improves the detection and characterization of numerous pathologies in several applications including breast, thyroid, liver, and prostate.
Following the Aixplorer® and Aixplorer® Ultimate platform, SuperSonic Imagine® released the SuperSonic® MACH® Ultrasound Systems.
